About the project

India Safety Guide was started as a personal response to a practical problem.

The aim is to make security information feel clear, grounded, and useful for real people making real decisions.

Who we are

India Safety Guide was started by a CSE graduate from Greater Noida who grew up watching friends and family navigate daily safety anxiety, first in Delhi NCR and then noticing the same gaps in other cities. The founder is graduating from Ohio State University in May 2026 and returning to India to build this full-time.

This is not a corporate product built in a boardroom. It is a personal response to a real problem that affects people we know.

Why this exists

India has thousands of private security providers. If you are a working woman who wants a verified guard for a late-night commute, a traveler who needs English-speaking protection, or an HR manager trying to keep people safe, finding a reliable agency you can trust is harder than it should be. Dense regions like Delhi NCR illustrate the problem first, but it shows up everywhere.

The existing directories are cluttered, unverified, and built for large enterprise contracts. There is no clear, trustworthy source for individuals who need personal security without a corporate procurement department.

Beyond that: many Indian cities run lean on public safety capacity relative to population. In that environment, the ability to access professional security should not depend on who you know or how much you earn.

What we're working toward

Right now: a clean directory of security agencies across India. Every agency in our directory carries verification labels that reflect what we could check (PSARA, online presence, GST where visible). We are transparent about what we could and could not verify.

Next: tools and services that make it easier for people anywhere in India to act on security concerns with more confidence, less confusion, and better access to trustworthy help when they need it.

The mission

Safety should not be a luxury. Everyone in India, especially women, deserves to feel safe going about daily life.

We are starting with a directory because it is useful today, costs nothing for users, and builds the trust and relationships we need to build the app right.

A note on verification

We verify what we can verify from public information. PSARA license numbers from agency websites. Google Business listings. GST registration visible on invoices or company pages.

We cannot personally vouch for service quality. We can tell you which agencies are operating legitimately. The rest (asking the right questions, meeting the guard before you commit, checking references) is yours. Our hiring guide walks you through exactly what to ask.
